The Centre For Insect Molecular Studies and Environmental Research (CIMSER) was established on 19th December 2018 under the PG & Research Department of Advanced Zoology and Biotechnology, Loyola College, Chennai — with a focused mandate to advance insect molecular biology and environmental research in service of public health and a sustainable environment.
To advance rigorous molecular and applied research on insects and their role in environmental and public health, translating findings into practical solutions for vector risk management.
To be a recognised centre of excellence for insect molecular studies and environmental research, contributing to a sustainable, healthy environment through science, training and outreach.
A core focus of CIMSER's work is life sciences and vector risk management, addressing the intersection of insect biology, disease transmission and environmental sustainability.
CIMSER has guided and supervised numerous students and research scholars, with six scholars having completed their Ph.D. degrees under the Centre's guideship so far.
CIMSER was established on 19th December 2018 with the blessings of Rev. Dr. F. Andrew, S.J. Dr. B. Vasantharaj David, Chairman of the Scientific/Academic Board at the International Institute of Biotechnology and Toxicology, unveiled the Centre's logo at the inaugural occasion.
The occasion was graced by Dr. M. G. Ragunathan, Assistant Professor at Gurunanak College, Chennai, and Dr. J. Mary Vimala Kalaiarasi, then Head of the PG & Research Department of Advanced Zoology and Biotechnology, Loyola College.
